Sweet storm pic. I do miss the IL thunder boomers, Magic Kitchen and some people from IL. It’s not all shite. It’s just too easy for me to rag on it. Went for Thai food this evening. Apparently, it’s where Steven Seagal dines when he’s in Albuquerque (his reason for coming here, I have no idea). Anyway, as usual, the owner was all cautious about giving me the “thai hot”. He even warned me that this was not like any Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been. I assured him to bring it. Conclusion: shit wasn’t hot at all. I had to eat five dried chiles with seeds to get a slight sweat and buzz. If I ever go back I will order Steven Seagal hot… or the Under Siege special. No Thai like Magic Kitchen. I think I may even quit trying to find anything like Magic Kitchen, because it’s never gonna happen.. i’m all bummed. Want to mail me some Three-Flavor fish - Magic Kitchen hot?

Oh, I should add that the food at the restaurant was fresh and tasty, but I always think I am going to get Magic Kitchen and it never comes close. I would recommend said restaurant for someone who likes spicy Chinese…. That is how the owner described it to me, anyway.

Magic Kitchen’s moved to the former Romanesque on Lewis, just down from SHS. Haven’t been there yet. My faves Thai place closed down.

They moved?! And even worse, by SHS? No one went to that school, except a bunch a pussies. The one redeeming quality about them is that they could afford good dope…when it could be found. Well, screw them…Who do they think they are? Once the charm leaves, the food follows soon after…What’s your favorite Thai place, now? Buffalo Wild Wings?

Now I’m super-bummed.

Let’s get it out of the way, AC. I bet they got a liqour license, too now…Like these folks moved to a so much better neighborhood? What the hell’s wrong with that town? Just never get it right there…Sometimes I miss home, but hell, since it’s been 10 years, and you can never really go home again (this is the truth, really), I think I’m over it.

Steve: Sorry for opening up old wounds. We can go to Thailand and get the goods someday.
Another thing about Steven Seagal Thai is that they dont sell booze and dont let you BYOB.

Well, that’s definitely not a Thai restaurant then. I’m pretty satisfied with Tommy’s Thai here, still. But yeah, you won’t be breaking a fever over the three flavor fish there, either. You just don’t take a chance with seafood here, anyway. It’s just not what it’s about here, bein’ all landlocked and mountain-like and all that…

BURN!
Naw, my faves Thai place was Thai Kitchen (or “The Kitch,” as it were) on North Ninth. That was the place that 20 On Your Side’s Chad Mahoney did a scathing expose of the cats living in the ceiling. I was always partial to the garlic pepper pork.
I haven’t been to Magic Kitchen since they moved. All this Thai talk has got me craving the shit. Maybe I’ll hit Magic Kitchen on my dinner break tomorrow night.

I never tried that place, but I remember it. Leave it to ch.20 to take away one of your favorite restaurants. They’re not on your side.

Maybe I’m confused, but The Magic Kitchen is still there and delicious as ever, AC. As far as I know, they’ve opened up the other location you’re referring to but the original location on Peoria Rd. is still there and still exquisitely good.
I just ate there last week and their lemon grass soup is still my favorite food on the planet.

My bad, Manx. As you can see, I don’t get out much. I didn’t know it was a second location.

Oh, so Thai Kitchen and Magic Kitchen are related. I did not know that.

The cool part about this article (being about a year old) is all those ph. numbers and addresses at the bottom, in case you need to hit that up.

Thanks Manx. I was really depressed when AC dropped that bomb. Glad you cleared that up. All’s good now.

[…] In the last post, the comments got threadjacked into a discussion of the tastiness of Thai food. All that talk got me in the mood to get my nose running. […]
