R.I.P. Bill Walsh 1931-2007
The world of football lost a giant Monday with the passing of legendary coach Bill Walsh.
Walsh’s legacy is unimpeachable: His West Coast offense was the foundation of the 49ers dynasty in the 1980s and is still in use, largely unchanged, today. Many of his assistant coaches went on to lead their own teams using Walsh’s West Coast offense, and those coaches in turn had assistants lead teams. Those current head coaches, although never directly working for Walsh, run his offense and owe their professional careers to his influence.
Unfortunately, some people right here in central Illinois with more time on their hands than respect for the deceased have vandalized Walsh’s page at Wikipedia:

I wonder if Glenwood High School football coach Dan Rourke knows his name is being used in such fashion.
