A Springfield bloggers challenge

Dan’s latest post at BFS about his wife’s apparently lame taste in music amused me enough to leave a comment, the snark of which may have been misinterpreted in a later comment.

I then felt compelled in yet another comment to qualify my normally impeccable musical bonafides with the fact that I do possess a few songs that I would normally be embarrassed to say that I enjoy.

Now, I’m going to lay it all out, and I challenge readers of this Web log (all four of you) and other bloggers to do the same.

I bring you my Guilty Pleasures playlist:

  • “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm,” Crash Test Dummies
  • “I Touch Myself,” the Divinyls
  • “Three Little Pigs,” Green Jelly
  • “Bossy,” Kelis feat. Too $hort
  • I’ve Been Thinking About You,” Londonbeat
  • “Here Comes The Hammer,” MC Hammer
  • “Can’t Touch This,” ibid
  • “Looks That Kill,” Mötley Crüe
  • “How Bizarre,” OMC
  • “Baby Got Back,” Sir Mix-a-lot
  • “Tainted Love,” Soft Cell
  • “Hunger Strike,” Temple of the Dog
  • “Ice Ice Baby,” Vanilla Ice
  • UPDATE 2:18 p.m. June 6: Looks like I forgot one: “I Got a Man,” Positive K

I also have the complete double disc of Rush “Chronicles.” Sorry, Johann, but they are powerfully uncool. In addition to those affronts to awesomeness, I also have the following in my iTunes shopping cart waiting for me to muster the nerve to buy them:

  • “Unbelievable,” EMF Bit the bullet and bought it.
  • “I Can’t Wait,” Nu Shooz This too.
  • “I’m Too Sexy,” Right Said Fred
  • “Yeah,” Usher feat Lil Jon and Ludacris
  • “Rump Shaker,” Wreckx-N-Effect

*shiver* I feel so dirty.
